Dear Jen, four years ago our family lost someone very special. It’s crazy to think back to that day— the heaving reaction that one community had in unison, every news report, the memoriam that was created, the legal fights between his family and the city of Beaverton as well as Trimet— unfortunately, it feels like just yesterday. I can’t remember how close you were to Austin, but I know he was in the writing department with you and I know that you won his memorial scholarship when we graduated.
